IMPD says a man was shot by police following a foot chase on Indy's southwest side Thursday afternoon. According to an IMPD spokesperson, officers initially responded to the 900 block of South Kiel Avenue on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found a male suspect who then fled from police. A brief foot chase then occurred. After chasing the suspect into the 1000 block of Waldemere Avenue, the suspect reportedly flashed a gun and then shot at officers. IMPD says one officer fired back at the suspect, striking and injuring them.
