Description
"The people we are targeting are very dangerous people," IMPD Deputy Chief of Police Kendale Adams said.
He is referring to the nearly 30 serious and wanted domestic violence offenders in Marion County at the center of the latest Operation Domestic Disruption.
It's a program several years in the making. This latest operation, which ran from Oct. 14-25, was the fifth of its kind and the second of 2024.
The main goal, Adams says, is to find and hold serious offenders responsible.
"Offenders will reoffend," Adams said. "Up to 60% of offenders will reoffend."
In Marion County, there are around 1,000 open domestic violence warrants, according to IMPD. Operation Domestic Disruption is designed to lessen that number.
"Warrants that have deadly weapons, warrants with serious bodily injury, warrants with strangulation, warrants that have pregnant females involved, prior convictions," Adams said.
During the latest operation, IMPD said they captured 18 offenders. Speaking directly to other offenders, Adams says the best thing to do is turn yourself in.
"Doesn't mean they're guilty, but it does mean they need to account for it," Adams said.
