One of the other topics discussed at Thursday morning's hearing was whether the jury will be able to see or hear about two widely-circulated composite sketches investigators released in their search for a suspect. The prosecution argued those sketches are not relevant because they were not used to identify Richard Allen. The defense said the state didn't use the sketches to identify Allen because "it looks nothing like" him. Special Judge Frances Gull said she would rule on use of the sketches Friday before opening statements in the trial. She also said she was struggling with how the sketches could be relevant since they were not used to identify Allen.
