Description
Five adults and one child are displaced after a condo fire on Indianapolis' far east side early Wednesday.
The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 2 in the 10200 block of Penrith Drive, near East 25th Street and North Mitthoefer Road.
IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith told 13News that a resident of the condo woke up to the smell of smoke. He told crews his smoke alarms didn't work, but he and his dog successfully escaped.
Firefighters worked for roughly half an hour to bring the fire under control. IFD said the heavy fire went into the attic and tried to gain a foothold before crews extinguished it.
