Description
A seventh-grade student in southern Indiana has been arrested after being accused of making threats against two middle schools in Clark County.
Thursday morning, Greater Clark County Schools Superintendent Mark Laughner shared to social media that district officials became aware of potential threats made against River Valley and Parkview Middle Schools late Wednesday night.
The Jeffersonville Police Department (JPD) was notified and began an immediate investigation into the threats, which were found to be unsubstantiated. Laughner said there were increased officers around the district’s school buildings out of an abundance of caution.
Hours later, authorities said they had identified the author of the posts made on social media: a 12-year-old student who attends Parkview Middle School.
Police said the child was arrested in front of their parents at the school and has since been charged with felony intimidation.
