Independence Day at Victory Church in Metairie means a major day of serving the community. This year, for the annual Feed the Multitude event, the church is prepared to feed 5,000 people in need. Church leaders contributed $50,000 of their own funds, and support from numerous donors and volunteers has made the event possible for the 36th consecutive year. “The total day requires about 400 or 500 volunteers,” said Chris Monnerjahn, senior associate pastor. “It’s a team effort to bless the community.” In addition to food, attendees will take home groceries, receive haircuts and nail services, and enjoy live entertainment.
