Description
No tropical threats for the Gulf Coast, but Tropical Storm Andrea has formed in the central Atlantic. By Tuesday afternoon, wind shear will limit further organization. On average, the first named storm forms on June 20th.
Elsewhere, no development is expected for the next 7 days.
2025 Hurricane Season Begins
The 2025 hurricane season officially began Sunday, June 1.
NOAA forecasts an above-average 2025 hurricane season with up to 19 named storms, including 6–10 hurricanes and 3–5 major ones. Officials highlighted better tools for earlier warnings, improved surge and flood maps, and a push for faster emergency response. The peak season outlook comes in August.
