The saying goes, "You don't get what you don't ask for," and the same rule applies if you want a lower credit card interest rate.
Matt Schulz, with LendingTree, said their survey found 83% of people who asked for a lower interest rate on one of their credit cards in the past year got a break.
"The average reduction was about six and a half points. That's a really big deal," Schulz said.
