Description
Indiana jails are playing a larger role in immigration enforcement now that President Donald Trump’s large-scale deportations are underway. In Marion County, the jail housed 438 detainees for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the first four months of 2025, a significant increase compared to past years.
Sheriff Kerry Forestal granted 13 Investigates exclusive access inside the jail to see the conditions in which federal detainees and local inmates are living. It was the first time a news outlet was allowed to film and take pictures inside of the Marion County Adult Detention Center since it opened and started housing inmates in January 2022.
