Description
If your Tampa commute feels worse lately, you're not alone — and you're not wrong.
A new study from ConsumerAffairs ranks the Tampa Bay area as the 13th worst in the country for traffic congestion. That’s a major jump from just last year, when the metro was ranked 24th among the nation’s 50 largest regions.
“It’s gotten a lot worse,” driver Tim Pipes said.
Researchers evaluated commute times, daily congestion and fatal crash rates. Tampa scored worse than the national average in all categories.
“I think definitely traffic has gotten worse,” 10 Tampa Bay traffic reporter Sarah Rosario said. “We used to not see our drive time so long, and now you’ll see drivers sitting in traffic for over an hour.”
