Description
Two 14-year-old North Texans were arrested after police say they led officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle that topped 120 mph and drove the wrong way on a busy highway.
The pursuit began early on Aug. 9 when Weatherford police officers spotted the vehicle speeding and refusing to stop, police said. The driver then entered Fort Worth Highway going the wrong direction.
Multiple officers, along with K9 Jack, pursued the suspects. After a short foot pursuit, both suspects were taken into custody without injury. The vehicle was later returned to its owner.
Police credited the coordinated response of patrol officers, the K9 team and investigators for resolving the incident without anyone getting hurt.
The department also reminded residents to help prevent “crimes of opportunity” by locking their vehicles and taking their keys with them.
