Description
An inactive crane sitting in downtown Tampa has some people concerned amid peak hurricane season.
Work on an apartment building located on Florida Avenue and Zack Street has been stalled.
Nearby workers like John Fitzgibbons said it's been on pause since October 2023 and worries it could pose as a safety concern after another crane in downtown St. Pete collapsed during Hurricane Milton.
"It would really be nice to know what exactly is going on," said Fitzgibbons, an attorney whose law office is located at the Tampa Theatre building nearby.
The crane sits on top of a parking garage and is located next to a hotel that was once a federal courthouse.
