Description
A Speedway police officer was injured when their car was struck by a suspect's vehicle during a pursuit Friday night.
IMPD officers initially responded to a report around 9 p.m. Friday of a house that had been shot at on Dunk Drive, near West 38th Street and Moller Road. Two people at the home ran from the scene, got into a vehicle and drove off, police said.
Moments later, a Speedway officer recognized the car and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. As the officer began pursuit of the suspect vehicle, a second Speedway officer in the area attempted to join the pursuit. Police said the driver of the suspect vehicle ran a red light at West 34th Street and Auburn Road, crashing into the second Speedway officer's vehicle.
That officer was taken to Methodist Hospital, where their condition was said to be "stable," according to an IMPD spokesperson.
