Government Shutdown 2025 Update: On Day 14 of the federal government shutdown, Speaker Mike Johnson and House GOP leaders accused Sen. Chuck Schumer of blocking a “clean” continuing resolution and putting politics over people.
The lawmakers said Democrats’ counterproposal adds $1.5 trillion in new spending, criticized “back-room dealmaking,” and claimed President Donald Trump found ways to ensure troops get paid during the shutdown.
