Former NOPD officer Jeffrey Vappie appeared in court today — just two days after his former boss, Mayor LaToya Cantrell, pleaded not guilty.
Vappie faces 7 new charges, including conspiracy and wire fraud.
Prosecutors say he used his relationship with the mayor to pocket about $70,000 in taxpayer-funded travel.
His attorneys say he’s “collateral damage” in the case and plan to fight the charges.
