Erin remains a powerful major hurricane Tuesday morning. It is also growing in size as the wind field expands dramatically. The large hurricane will pass by North Carolina the next few days producing deadly rip currents, large waves and gusty winds. By this weekend Erin will be lifting out to sea passing just south of Newfoundland. A tropical wave not yet designated an "Invest" west of Cabo Verde has a 60% chance for development in the coming days. Forecast models do differ on where it will go, but the majority of the ensemble members of both the GFS and Euro have it following a similar path as Erin, but we will want to monitor by this weekend to make sure it makes the turn out to sea. It will be near Puerto Rico and surrounding islands by Friday and Saturday. Another tropical wave just coming off the continent of Africa has a low chance of development over the next week.
