1914-1933: This Nazi propaganda film shows the historical events leading to the establishment of the Third Reich, including World War One, the Versaille Treaty, the Weimar Republic and Hitler´s rise to power. 1941: German troops swear loyalty to Hitler. Shows panoramic views of the countryside, mountains, people harvesting crops, German cities, a cathedral, steel mills and coal mines, a German colonial post and troop review there. Flashback to World War I: German troops advancing in World War I, and Gens. Hindenberg and Ludendorff. Maps show powers arrayed against and allied with Germany in WW I, the extent of German advances, and the effect of the Versailles Treaty on Germany's borders. Forts are demolished, cannon and hangars destroyed, ships scuttled, and planes junked. The Weimar Republic in the 1920s: German communists arouse crowds. Shows communist literature, examples of currency inflation, and people running. Hitler reviews storm troops, von Hindenberg reviews German troops, German troops (Reichswehr) train with wooden tanks, Leon Blum and others review a military parade in Paris, and von Hindenberg appoints Hitler Reichchancellor. Hitler spades some earth, men build factories, war materiel production begins, and concrete is laid for an autobahn.
