Description

1966: SPORTS. HORSE RACE: THE BELMONT STAKES. Amberoid comes from behind to pass a tiring Mai King and wins the Belmont Stakes; last step in racing's Triple Crown. Kauai King had already won the first two legs; The Kentucky Derby and the Preakness; and would have been the first horse in 18 years to take all three and the Crown. The finish: Amberoid; Buffle; and even Advocator nipped Kauai King by a neck for third place.
