JAPAN RIOTS - IKE'S VISIT CANCELLED AFTER MANILA TRIUMPH: In Tokyo, Communist-led student mobs defy warning of police crack-down after the attack on Presidential Press Secretary Hagerty, and launch a well-organized assault on the Parliament compound. The most violent rioting in a month of demonstrations continues far into the night, with more than 600 policemen and hundreds of students injured, and at least one student killed. Police can't hold back the mob until tear gas is brought into play. The result, a request by the Government that Ike's visit be cancelled in the face of Red threats. A major propaganda success for Communism, and a grave threat to the future political stability of Japan. The shocking violence in Tokyo followed a triumphal reception for the President in the Philippines. One million turned out in Manila to give Mr. Eisenhower a stirring ovation at the start of his 2 ½ day visit here, one of the most rousing welcomes he's been accorded on any overseas visit.
