Description

1966: SPORTS. HORSE RACE: THE BELMONT STAKES. "Amberoid" comes from behind to pass a tiring "Mai King" and wins the Belmont Stakes, last step in racing's Triple Crown. "Kauai King" had already won the first two legs, The Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, and would have been the first horse in 18 years to take all three and the Crown. The finish: "Amberoid", "Buffle", and even "Advocator" nipped "Kauai King" by a neck for third place.
