Scott Carpenter and his wife Rene Louise Price in a motorcade wave at the civilians as they arrive at the campus of the university. He arrives in Colorado to receive the degree in aeronautical engineering which he failed to take in 1949. A professor presents the brand new degree and a silver plate to commemorate the occasion.
