FIFA tests balls that know when they're in the goal At Soccerex, the world's biggest exhibition dedicated to football, a German firm, Allemande Fraunhofer, showed off its "GoalRef" system - hi-tech balls and sensors in goals. The idea is, with sensors in the balls and in the goals, the balls will know when they cross the goal line. It's one of two systems in the running to be used at the World Cup in 2014.
