Firms must be alert to Congo 'conflict minerals': NGO Campaign group Global Witness is calling on firms using minerals which may have been mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo to check that they haven't been used to fund conflict. The group, which was jointly nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for its work in highlighting the problem of 'Blood diamonds' in West Africa, also accuses Rwanda of selling Congolese conflict minerals.
