Description
Colombia and Nicaragua fall out over border dispute Colombia says it will no longer recognise the International Court of Justice's jurisdiction in border disputes follwing a ruling that redrew its boundary with Nicaragua. Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said that the country's territorial and marine boundaries should be established through treaties, and not through sentences handed down by the court in the Hague. The UN's International Court of Justice recently awarded sovereignty over a group of Caribbean islands, the San Andres archipelago, to Colombia, while granting a large swathe of sea territory to Nicaragua in a long-running dispute between the two countries.
