More than 1,000 protest in city of Samarra Violence broke out across Iraq on Monday after anti-government protests blocking a key highway linking Iraq to Syria and Jordan entered a ninth day. In the Sunni-majority city of Samarra, more than 1,000 people gathered to protest against what they said was targeting of their community by officials and security forces from the Shiite-led government.
