Egyptian Salafists protest against relations with Iran Egyptian Islamist protesters demonstrate outside the Iranian ambassador's residence in Cairo on Friday against Iranian tourists visiting Egypt and any political and diplomatic relations between the two countries. Protesters also placed the Syrian opposition flag on the gate of the residence as Iran remains a steadfast ally of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad throughout the two-year conflict that the UN says has killed more than 70,000 people.
