Obama to visit a slave-trading historical site in Senegal President Barack Obama is due to visit Goree Island as part of his upcoming trip to Senegal. Goree Island, a UNESCO world heritage site, is historically known to have played a pivotal role in the slave trading industry. Slaves would await for the boats sailing to America.
