AU in Madagascar to work on political crisis The Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union, Ramtane Lamamra, visits Madagascar. The island is in a political deadlock since three presidential candidates, contested by the international community refused to withdraw. This visit follows the decision of the International Contact Group on Madagascar which recommends targeted sanctions against the controversial three candidates, whose country's strongman is Andry Rajoelina.
