In 2010, Squarcini requested the phone records of a reporter at Le Monde newspaper Gérard Davet in order to identify his sources for an article that implicated the then labour minister Eric Woerth in a scandal involving management of the huge fortune of L'Oreal heir Liliane Bettencourt. If found guilty, Squarcini could be sentenced to up to five year in prison and fined up to 300,000 euros. Images and soundbites from Squarcini's lawyer about how they will lead his defence.
