Peruvian communities slug it out at christmas fighting festival Takanakuy is a fighting festival held every year in Peru, on Christmas Day. It's unique to the Chumbivilcas community where it is viewed as a way of leaving quarrelling between locals behind, before the new year. The practice, through immigration, is now being repeated in the shantytowns of San Juan de Lurigancho in Lima. Images and soundbites
