Daredevils try to reach Antarctica on paddleboards Three athletes - two French and one Spanish - took off from Cape Horn in Chile on paddle-boards on Friday with the goal of reaching Antarctica by arm-power alone. The three women -Stéphanie Geyer-Barneix (39), Alexandra Lux (28), and Itziar Abascal (24) are due to take ten days to reach Antarctica, in water temperatures of around 2 degrees centigrade.
