Russia's central bank hikes rate as ruble plummets Russia's central bank jacks up its key lending rate again, in a bid to stem the ruble's rapid slide and slow rising prices but the currency swiftly sank to fresh lows. The rate hike from 9.5 percent to 10.5 percent is the second since late October, and the bank says further raises will follow "in case of further aggravation of inflation risks."
