US Army radar blimp draws criticism from privacy advocates Since late December, the US Army has been trying out a powerful surveillance system attached to a giant balloon floating over northern Maryland. The blimp-like aircraft is meant to detect cruise missiles and other threats, but its highly detailed radar has privacy advocates worried that it could potentially track and collect data on small vehicles and people.
