Description
France's comte cheese producers keep to recipe for success The European Union will lift its national quotas on milk production on 31 March, which could boost output by tens of billions of litres. Quotas were introduced 30 years ago, to fix the overproduction caused by the EU's price-intervention scheme. Now, as volumes grow, prices are expected to drop, forcing small producers to give way to larger operations. But in France's Jura Mountains, comté cheese producers say they're protected from the changes -- by keeping to a generations-old recipe for success. A natural sound version of an AFPTV report.
