Janadriyah, a showcase of Saudi culture The sprawling Janadriyah festival on the edge of Riyadh is the kingdom’s major annual cultural showcase, including traditional dance, crafts, food, music, poetry and camel racing. This year’s special guest was Germany, which has a pavilion featuring its own culture. Janadriyah opened on February 3, initially for male visitors. Monday was the first day for women and families in the conservative Islamic kingdom where the sexes are strictly segregated. Janadriyah closes on February 19.
