Description
Lawyers demand release of Ugandan opposition candidate Lawyers for Uganda’s opposition candidate, Kizza Besigye, have been to court to demand that he be realised from detention. Besigye has been held by police at his home since the presidential election in February. He lost the election to incumbent Yoweri Museveni in a poll that has been criticised for irregularities by both the Ugandan opposition and international observers. The police say he’s being held because he intends to incite violence. The court has adjourned until Friday when a decision is expected. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
