Albinos on Tanzanian island celebrate Albinism Awareness Day The Albino society in Ukerewe island, Tanzania, holds its first commemoration of International Albinism Awareness Day. Ukerewe island is home to up to 75 albinos according to the last census held in December 2015. Many of the first albinos to live on the island were taken there and abandoned by their families as children or fled from violence they had faced on the mainland. IMAGES.
