Operational contingent of Brazil navy ready for Rio Olympics The Brazilian navy presents its land-based contingent assigned to the security of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Thursday in Rio de Janeiro. The contingent, which will begin its task starting July 24, is comprised of 3,000 soldiers, and will intervene particularly in the case of a terrorist, biological or nuclear attack, and participate in special operations against drug trafficking.
