"All of France along the route": Salgado's Tour de France In 1986, Sebastiao Salgado accepted an assignment to photograph the Tour de France for "Libération," a French daily newspaper. "I didn't know the sport very well -- cycling -- I was curious to discover it," explained the celebrated photographer, "But what I was even more curious about was to discover the French people along the route." 18 of the resulting photos are being shown until July 30 at the Polka Gallery in Paris.
