New tarantula species named in honor of Garcia Marquez It was found in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, and it’s being studied in Uruguay as well: the recently discovered "Kankuamo marquezi" spider was named to honor the indigenous Kankuamo group who live in the same area of Colombia, and Nobel literature laureate Gabriel García Márquez.
