France's socialists the biggest losers of parliamentary election As Macron gains a huge majority from the French parliamentary vote, it is France's socialist party that are the biggest losers of the night. Punished by association with years of high unemployment, social unrest and lost national confidence after five years in power under former president Francois Hollande, the party has shed around 200 seats, leaving them with only around 27 to 49 seats.
