In this Parisian mortuary, staff work hard to restore the dignity of the deceased - be that applying makeup, giving them a shave or putting on their Sunday best. Last weekend, Bichat Hospital opened its doors to the public, giving people the opportunity to have a nose around their local hospital. Two floors beneath ground level, the morticians hope that an insight into a mortuary will be a comfort to visitors who will leave with the knowledge that they willl be looked after, even once they have passed away.
