After skirt incident, activists protest at Paris Saudi embassy A handful of protesters gathered outside the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Paris to draw attention to human rights violations in the country after the detainment and subsequent release without charge of a woman filmed walking north of Riyadh in a short skirt. Women are required to wear long black abaya robes and cover their hair in public in most of Saudi Arabia, which has some of the world's harshest restrictions on women. The woman in question confessed to walking through the site in a skirt with her hair uncovered but said the footage had been uploaded to Snapchat without her knowledge.
