Paris: Louvre accelerator AGLAE gets an upgrade Paris's Louvre may be known as home to the world's largest art collection, but underneath its glass pyramid it also houses AGLAE (Accélérateur Grand Louvre d'Analyse Elémentaire), a particle accelerator that scientists use to unlock the secrets of ancient objects. In its new and improved version, AGLAE uses a multi-detector system which allows for systematic imaging, automation of the beamline, and minimises the risk of damage to small objets.
