Description
Refugees in Cameroon participate in UN reforestation programme The arrival of tens of thousands of Nigerian refugees to the camp of Minawao in the Far North of Cameroon has led to a savage cutting of trees in a region in danger of desertification. To encourage the refugees to stop cutting forests for firewood, UNHCR has launched a vast reforestation programme around the refugee camp and has set up a waste-based coal manufacturing centre to preserve the environment.
