Pristina-born Rita Ora celebrates Kosovan independence Ten years after Kosovo declared independence from Serbia, Pristina-born pop star Rita Ora is set to perform in the city's main square on Saturday night as part of the anniversary celebrations. The singer's ethnic Albanian family left Kosovo for the UK in 1991 when she was a baby, in order to escape the repression imposed by Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic after he stripped the Yugoslav province of its autonomy.
