Description
Healing wounds in Spain's Basque Country after ETA A chapter of Basque history is closing and a new one opening: ETA has apologised to some of its victims as it prepares to disband in May. In 2011, the separatist group had declared a permanent ceasefire, putting paid to four decades of violence. Created in 1959 at the height of Francisco Franco's dictatorship, the group continued to fight for an independent Basque homeland even after the return of democracy in the late 1970s, leaving at least 829 dead in its wake. A voiced AFPTV report.
