Description
Cameroon: National holiday boycotted in anglophone crisis In Buea, the capital of South-West Cameroon, one of the two English-speaking regions of the country, the population has shunned the 46th national holiday. The streets are deserted, shops and houses are closed. Only a few administrative and army cars criss-cross the arteries of the city. Police barricades are erected at numerous crossroads, mixed teams of police and gendarmes check vehicles and people on the road. It's a similar scene in Tiko and Mutenguene, two English-speaking towns in the southwest region. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITE
