Behind the scenes of baggage screening in Roissy airport Ever wondered how your suitcase goes missing from a flight? It's all down to the baggage screening department of an airport. In Paris's busy Charles de Gaulle airport, impressive baggage screening machines operate in the basement, with an automated system, to transport and screen luggage before they're loaded into the hold of a flight. The new screening machine can handle up to 8000 suitcases an hour. The aim is to check the luggage and get connecting flights out in "less than thirty minutes" explains Marc Houalla, the airport's director. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
