Turkey's Saturday Mothers defy ban in search for sons The mothers, widely known as the "Saturday Mothers" hold a press conference in Istanbul after police cracked down on their weekly protests. The mothers have met on Saturdays since May 27, 1995 in the heart of Istanbul, to remember relatives who disappeared in one of modern Turkey's most turbulent periods.
